Urban Outfitters Sales Surge, Profit Plunges; CEO Vows to Boost Key Brands

Macy's, Inc., guided by CEO Richard Hayne, has shared a mixed set of results for the first nine months of its fiscal year. While total sales surged by 8% to $1.743 billion (€1.271 billion), profit took a significant hit, dropping by 26% to $145.99 million (€106.9 million).

The company's overall sales growth was driven by an increase in comparable retail segment sales, which climbed by 7%. However, this positive trend was overshadowed by a decline in wholesale segment sales, which fell by 11%.

Looking at the individual brands, Macy's and Anthropologie are both under scrutiny for improvement. Hayne, the top executive, is steering the company's focus towards enhancing the offerings of these key brands. Despite the challenges, the company remains committed to driving growth and innovation in its retail segments.
