Suzuki Colombia Celebrates 2 Millionth Motorcycle Milestone
Suzuki Motor de Colombia S.A. (SMDC) has reached a significant milestone, producing its 2 millionth motorcycle. The achievement was celebrated on 11 September 2025, marking over 40 years of the company's presence in Colombia's motorcycle industry.
The 2 millionth motorcycle was a Colombian-spec GN125, known for its durability and fuel efficiency. This model has been a popular choice among Colombian customers, contributing to Suzuki's record annual sales volume of 133,391 units in FY2024. The production of this milestone motorcycle was celebrated with a ceremony attended by dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Japan to Colombia, the President of SMDC, and the Managing Officer of Suzuki Motorcycle Operations.
SMDC began operations in February 1982 and now offers 14 models, including the GN125 and GIXXER series. Over the years, Suzuki has played a vital role in strengthening Colombia's industrial landscape, exporting motorcycles to six countries: Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, El Salvador, and Chile.
The production of the 2 millionth motorcycle is a testament to Suzuki's commitment and contribution to Colombia's motorcycle industry. As SMDC continues to grow, it looks forward to further strengthening its presence in the region and beyond.
