Nordstrom Brings Back Nordstrom Local to San Francisco

Nordstrom Inc. is bringing its service-only format, Nordstrom News, back to San Francisco. The 1,750-square-foot store, located at 1919 Fillmore Street, is set to open on Thursday. This will be the first Nordstrom News in Northern California and the seventh location overall.

The new Nordstrom News will offer a range of services to customers, including pick-up and return of online orders, alterations, fashion advice, gift wrapping, and recycling of empty beauty packaging. Additionally, customers can donate new or gently used clothing and shoes, which will be sent to the St. Anthony Foundation for distribution to those in need.

The store will also feature a rotating gallery of artwork by San Francisco-based artists, available for purchase. Validated parking will be provided at the Japan Center Annex Garage.

Nordstrom News first launched in 2017 in the L.A. market and has since expanded to New York City and other California locations. The opening at Fillmore Street marks a return for Nordstrom to San Francisco, after previously closing its department store and Nordstrom Rack doors.

The Nordstrom News opening on Fillmore Street is part of the company's strategy to create 'neighborhood service hubs', providing convenience for shoppers. However, it's important to note that as of October 2025, there are no new Nordstrom News locations in California or elsewhere, and no further announcements have been made regarding the format's future.
