Late Artist Nguyễn Lâm's Works Honoured in Ho Chi Minh City Retrospective
A retrospective exhibition of late Vietnamese artist Nguyễn Lâm's art is currently underway in Ho Chi Minh City. The show, titled 'Abstract P04', displays a selection of his large-scale oil paintings and highlights his significant contributions to the development of lacquer painting in Southern Việt Nam.
The exhibition, which runs until October 13, is a collaborative effort by ArtBlue Gallery Singapore, Huyền Art House, and the artist's family. It aims to introduce and honour Nguyễn Lâm's works through private collections.
The showcase features 25 artworks, predominantly large-format abstract oil paintings, that reflect the artist's unique perspective on the world and his recurring theme of young women. These pieces are part of the collections at prominent institutions such as the Việt Nam Fine Arts Museum, the National Gallery Singapore, and the HCM City Fine Arts Museum. However, most of Nguyễn Lâm's works are owned by private collectors worldwide.
One such admirer of Nguyễn Lâm's art is Singaporean collector Edwin Leow. He first encountered the artist's abstract paintings in 2015 and has been captivated by them ever since.
The exhibition of Nguyễn Lâm's works is a testament to his enduring legacy and influence on the art world. With over 1,000 artworks created during his 60-year career, primarily in lacquer and oil paintings, his impact on Vietnamese art is undeniable. The 'Abstract P04' exhibition offers a rare opportunity to appreciate the late artist's remarkable talent and vision.
