Innstadt Cemetery's Main Entrance Undergoes Major Renovation
The Innstadt Cemetery, the largest of the city's six cemeteries, is undergoing a significant renovation. The construction costs amount to approximately 30,000 euros, with completion scheduled by the end of September 2025.
Repair work on the main entrance began in early August 2025. The project includes the restoration of the inscription and balustrade in front of the main entrance. The city has also addressed damage to the building and entrance walls, with remaining damage to the portal's base set to be repaired. To prevent water damage, a new copper covering has been installed on the wall of the cemetery entrance.
The city has expanded and adapted its offering of maintenance-free urn niches to meet demand. Both casket and urn burials are possible on the city's cemeteries, with the Innstadt Cemetery being home to numerous prominent figures.
