Göttingen's Renewable Heat Expansion Begins in Mid-September
Göttingen is set to expand its renewable heat supply, with a key project in project management commencing in mid-September. The city's climate plan is the driving force behind this initiative. Residents and commuters should be aware of the following changes during the construction phase.
The construction will take place on Oberer Karspüle, where the one-way street rule will be temporarily suspended, turning the street into a dead end. Between mid-September and late October, the street will be fully closed between Friedrichstraße and house number 12. Access and exit to Oberer Karspüle during this period will be via Albaniplatz.
The district heating network expansion is being undertaken by the Stadtwerke Göttingen, who are responsible for the planning, construction, operation, and expansion of the city's district heating network. They can be contacted for the latest information and updates on the project. While the university may be involved as the 'Obere Karspüle' is part of its North Campus, the Stadtwerke Göttingen typically hold the overall responsibility for such project management projects.
The expansion of the renewable heat supply in Göttingen is underway, with the Oberer Karspüle project set to contribute significantly to the city's climate goals. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly during the construction phase. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is recommended to contact the Stadtwerke Göttingen directly.
