European Capitals of Culture Gather in Veszprém to Discuss Sustainability
From October 6 to 8, 2025, the ECOC-Echo Seminar will take place in Veszprém, Hungary, bringing together representatives of past, current, and future European Capitals of Culture. The goal? To exchange ideas about the sustainable effects of the European Capital of Culture year on cities and regions. This event is co-financed by the European Union's Interreg Europe program.
Led by Mayor Daniel Röthig of Callenberg, a delegation from Chemnitz 2025 will attend the seminar. They will join representatives from Veszprém, which held the title in 2023, and other cities like Leeuwarden 2018, Novi Sad 2022, Tartu 2024, Oulu 2026, Liepāja 2027, Évora 2027, and Bourges 2028. The program includes expert discussions led by Tibor Navracsics, Hungarian Minister for Regional Development and former EU Commissioner, and Gyula Porga, Mayor of Veszprém. It also features interactive learning formats and visits to key cultural sites in Veszprém.
