Essener Umweltpreis Returns with €12,000 in Prizes for Social & Environmental Projects
The Essener Umweltpreis is back for its 18th edition, offering a total of 12,000 euros in prize money. Sponsored by BANK IM BISTUM ESSEN eG, this year's award focuses on projects that bring social benefits and enhance local quality of life.
Entries are welcome from various sectors, including climate projects, school initiatives, and new social projects. Two special prizes are up for grabs. The 'Fairtrade' prize seeks projects that connect fair trade with other topics like gender equality or diversity. Meanwhile, the 'Fairtrade 2025' prize, awarded by the city administration, comes with a 2,000 euro cash prize.
Entries must be submitted by 15 October. An expert jury, chaired by Deputy Mayor Judith Schwentner and including Environmental Office Director Werner Prutsch, will evaluate the projects. The jury is open to entries from residents, associations, institutions, and small/medium enterprises, provided the project has been implemented within the last two years.
The award ceremony will take place in December. If you have a project that aligns with the Essener Umweltpreis criteria, don't miss this opportunity to gain recognition and funding. The deadline for entries is 15 October.
