Cyber Wardens Program Launches in 2023 to Protect Australian Small Businesses

Small business owners in Australia can now better protect their businesses against cyber risks with the upcoming launch of the Cyber Wardens program in early 2023. This initiative, a partnership between COSBOA, Commonwealth Bank, and Telstra, aims to safeguard the nation's 2.3 million small businesses. The program is particularly welcomed by Generation Z employees, who show the highest willingness to engage in further training and build a culture of cybersecurity awareness.

Four in five Australian small business owners and employees lack confidence in their ability to handle cyber threats. The Cyber Wardens program will provide simple information and tools to help small business owners and employees stay safe online. It targets Generation Z, the most interested generation in learning about and contributing to cyber safety initiatives, despite their lower awareness of common cyber security threats compared to older counterparts. Gen Z employees rate their cyber threat response skills highly, but they recognise the need for training and support.

Small business owners often assume young, tech-savvy family members or employees have adequate cyber security skills. However, the Cyber Wardens program aims to address this misconception and provide comprehensive training. Small business owners can visit www.cyberwardens.com.au to participate in the training and better protect their businesses against cyber risks.

The Cyber Wardens program, set to launch in early 2023, is a significant step towards improving cybersecurity in Australian small businesses. By targeting Generation Z and providing accessible training, the program aims to boost confidence and skills among small business owners and employees, ultimately safeguarding Australia's 2.3 million small businesses and their customers from online threats.
