2023: Main Customs Office Potsdam Fights Black Work, Recovers €20M
In 2023, the Financial Control Black Work of the Main Customs Office Potsdam concluded a significant number of criminal and administrative offence proceedings, totalling 2,128 and 568 respectively. The total damage sum uncovered reached a staggering 20,117,466 euros.
The inspections, which primarily targeted the construction industry, hotels and restaurants, and the building cleaning industry, led to a higher damage sum compared to the previous year. The total fines and confiscation orders imposed in 2023 amounted to 807,111 euros.
Despite the decrease in the number of employers and people inspected, with 595 and 6,162 respectively, the Financial Control Black Work managed to detect and address a substantial amount of unpaid social security contributions, unpaid contributions to professional associations, improperly received social benefits, and wage discrepancies.
The Main Customs Office Potsdam can be contacted via Christiane Ullrich at [email protected] for further inquiries regarding these matters.
The Financial Control Black Work, active across several districts and independent cities in Brandenburg, continues to play a crucial role in combating black work, illegal employment, and social benefit fraud. The 2023 figures reflect their commitment and effectiveness in uncovering and addressing these issues.
