At the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Oberhausen Traffic Safety Association, held on June 26th at the Matecki House, several long-standing drivers were recognised for their commendable achievement of 50 years of accident-free driving.

The ceremony, attended by Oberhausen's Police President, Frau Dr. Sylke Sackermann, and the honorary chairman, Dieter Elsenrath-Junghans, celebrated the honorees' impeccable safety records and their contributions to road safety. Although specific names were not publicly disclosed, the awards served as a testament to the commitment of these drivers to traffic safety and an inspiration to others in the community.

The Traffic Safety Association also took the opportunity to thank its partners and sponsors for their ongoing support, which made possible projects such as "Safe to School", "Promotion of Movement in Kindergarten", "Bicycle Training in School", and "Support for School Crossing Guards". These initiatives aim to ensure the safety of children on their way to and from school, contributing to the notable statistic that no child was killed on their way to school in Oberhausen in 2024.

Despite the association's efforts, the number of traffic accidents in Oberhausen in 2025 was 8221, almost identical to the previous year. This underscores the importance of safe driving habits and the role of the association in promoting traffic safety awareness.

Following the treasurer's report and a subsequent discussion, the board of the Traffic Safety Association was discharged. The AGM concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting traffic safety in Oberhausen and beyond.

At the AGM, the Traffic Safety Association expressed gratitude to prestigious partners and sponsors in the finance, transportation, and industry sectors, given their pivotal role in funding projects that promote road safety and children's safety. Continuing their mission, the association intends to collaborate with relevant finance and industry leaders to foster a culture of safe driving and traffic awareness in Oberhausen and across the broader community.
