Workshop Introducing Regulation Strategies for Pedestrian Traffic

Ulm residents are invited to participate in a series of foot traffic checks taking place in the city centre this year, with the first walk scheduled for September 29, 2025, and the second on October 8. The checks, funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg, will commence on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The focus of these foot traffic checks is on usage conflicts on sidewalks caused by obstacles such as trash cans, bicycles, scooters, or parked cars. The goal is to identify concrete improvement potential for pedestrian traffic, as it is essential for creating a healthy, environmentally friendly, socially just, and independent city.

Two walks through the city centre will be conducted as part of the foot traffic check. During these walks, local conditions will be analysed, and weak points will be identified on-site. The findings from these checks will form the basis for proposals to promote pedestrian traffic and ensure a safer, more comfortable experience for all pedestrians.

A concluding workshop will take place in November to discuss and present these proposals. Citizens are invited to join representatives from administration, politics, and associations for this event, which will take place at the Club Orange of vh Ulm from 7 to 9 pm.

The foot traffic checks are professionally accompanied by the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and the planning society's specialist office. The theme for this year's foot traffic check is "Clear the sidewalks," reflecting the aim to create more space for pedestrians and improve their overall experience in the city centre.

For up-to-date and precise information, it is recommended to consult the official Ulm city website or local police traffic departments for any announcements regarding these foot traffic checks.

The foot traffic checks, led by the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and the planning society's specialist office, aim to create more space for pedestrians in the city centre, thus improving the industry of transportation. The findings from these checks, reflecting the theme "Clear the sidewalks," will be used to propose improvements in finance, such as investments in infrastructure that prioritize pedestrian traffic.
