Bus Reroutes Affecting Multiple Lines in Mainz, Germany
Starting from Monday, August 18, 2025, several bus lines in Mainz will be rerouted due to a water pipe break and related street closure at Gustav-Stresemann-Ring. The affected lines include 3, 6, 16, 22, 27, 28, 33, 37, 45, and 49.
For most of the lines (3, 6, 16, 27, 28, 33, 37, 45, 49), buses traveling towards Berliner Straße will take their normal route until the stop "Hauptbahnhof A," then divert through Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, Wittelsbacherstraße, a bypass to Wettinerstraße, and back joining Gustav-Stresemann-Ring to reach Berliner Straße.
Line 22, however, detours differently. In the direction of the Berufsschulzentrum (vocational school center), it continues from the bypass via Wettinerstraße directly to the "Berufsschulzentrum" terminus. In the direction of the city center, line 22 buses detour from Wittelsbacherstraße through Mainzer Straße, Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, and Bahnhofstraße, reaching stops "Hauptbahnhof B" or "Hauptbahnhof A" at Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring.
Line 22 and Line 27 (both directions) will end at the "Brunhildenstraße" stop instead of their regular destinations. Line 27 (destination: Leisure Pool) will reroute from "Main Station A" via Salzbachstraße, Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Weidenbornstraße, and Hasengartenstraße, and then back to the regular route. Line 27 (Direction: Oberjosbach / HSK / August-Bebel-Straße) returns to the regular route after the "Welfenstraße" stop.
Lines 3, 6, 33, and 49 will be rerouted towards Biebrich, Mainz, Kostheim, and Bierstadt. Line 27 (Direction: Oberjosbach / HSK / August-Bebel-Straße) starts at the "Brunhildenstraße" stop and continues via Siegfriedring and Hasengartenstraße to the replacement stop on Weidenbornstraße. Line 27 (destination: Vocational School Center) will end at the "Brunhildenstraße" stop. No further service to the regular destination "Vocational School Center" is available for this line.
For line 27 (Direction: Leisure Pool), it reroutes from "Main Station A" via Salzbachstraße, Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Weidenbornstraße, Hasengartenstraße, and then back to the regular route.

The rerouting of multiple bus lines in Mainz, including lines 3, 6, 16, 22, 27, 28, 33, 37, 45, and 49, has impacted the transportation sector in Germany. This disruption, due to a water pipe break at Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, has caused changes in the finance and industry sectors, such as the potential need for alternative transportation options for commuters and businesses.
The changes in public-transit routes have affected organizations like ESWE Verkehr, who have adjusted their services to accommodate the rerouted lines, including Line 22 and Line 27, which are now ending at the "Brunhildenstraße" stop instead of their regular destinations.
