Updates Unveiled through Gateway
Portal recently unveiled a series of updates encompassing the launch of version 3.0 for its iOS app, expanded integrations, and enhancements to proposal and payment functionalities.
Refreshed iOS App
In an attempt to sync features with the web app, the Portal iOS application underwent a comprehensive overhaul, transforming it into a hybrid app. This adaptation enables the iOS app to load Portal's mobile web pages, making it possible for new features to appear simultaneously with the web app updates each week.
Improved Proposals
- New "Fee" Category: Portal has added a third item type, "Fees," which caters to items other than parts and labor, such as shipping, travel charges, and convenience fees. These fees are now separately itemized in the Financial Summary of the Proposal.
- Automated Convenience Fees: Convenience fees have been automatically incorporated in both payment requests and the proposal financial summary, eradicating the need for manual editing and ensuring accuracy in totals.
- Collapsible Areas: Users can now easily minimize areas within their proposals for faster scrolling, especially for those with extensive item lists. Proposals with over 100 items will load by default with all areas collapsed for quicker load times and navigation.
- Advanced AI Proposal Builder: Portal has enhanced its AI Proposal Builder by remembering installation and programming labor items assigned to AI placeholders, saving time for users in the future.
- Enhanced Proposal Speed: Portal has streamlined the loading speed of large proposals by implementing significant front- and back-end optimizations.
Streamlined Payments
- Customizable Auto-Generated Payment Requests: Portal users can now choose to turn off ACH or Credit Card payment options on auto-generated payment requests, which are triggered when a customer accepts a proposal.
- Easier Manual Payment Receipt: Portal has made it simpler to mark a payment as received directly from the proposal, eliminating the need for multiple steps to record payments received by check or other means.
- Invoicelike Design: Portal has redesigned the layout of Payment Requests to more closely resemble invoices and added a new Review & Submit screen, ensuring a clear and concise display of all payment details before sending.
New Integrations
- QuickBooks Online: Portal has expanded its QuickBooks Online integration to connect to the People module, allowing for seamless searches and imports of clients from both Portal and QuickBooks contacts.
- Zoho (Beta): Portal has developed a preliminary native Zoho integration, offering features such as searching and importing Zoho contacts and accounts, creating Zoho Deals when a Proposal is generated, and pushing Proposals to Zoho Books as Quotes. This integration is currently in a closed Beta phase, with an open Beta to follow soon.
- Salesforce (Beta): Portal has constructed a native Salesforce integration, enabling searches and imports of Salesforce contacts.

In keeping with the revamped Portal iOS app, the hybrid nature of the app allows for effectiveness in implementing business-related technology, enabling simultaneous updates between the mobile app and web app each week. The recently introduced "Fee" category in proposals caters to various expenses beyond parts and labor, such as shipping, travel charges, and convenience fees, thereby providing more comprehensive financial breakdowns within proposals.
