United States' Arizona State to Inaugurate Commercial Presence in Romania, Announces Embassy
Romania and Arizona are set to deepen their economic ties, with the announcement that Arizona will open an economic representative office in Romania in 2026. The office, with a budget of USD 125,000, aims to enhance trade and economic cooperation between Arizona and Romania, and will also cover Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans.
The decision marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the U.S. states and Romania, as Arizona becomes the first U.S. state to establish such an office in Romania. The new office will assist Arizona-based companies by providing commercial and export support, market research, and identification of sales or distribution partners in the region.
The initiative reflects growing political and economic dialogue between the two regions, with visits and discussions between Romanian and Arizona officials in recent years. The Arizona House of Representatives, during the term of Speaker Ben Toma, provided support for this project. Mr. Toma has also been thanked for his support by the Romanian Embassy in the United States.
The new trade office in Romania is part of a larger plan to establish four new regional trade offices, announced by the Arizona House of Representatives in 2023. The Romanian Embassy to the United States made the announcement, citing ongoing dialogue and cooperation between Romanian and Arizona officials.
The office will be located in Bucharest and will cover Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. As of the current setup, Arizona has economic offices in Mexico, Israel, Germany, South Korea, and Taipei. These offices assist Arizona-based companies with exports, market research, identifying potential sales or distribution partners, and supporting economic delegations during trade fairs and business events.
The Romanian ambassador to the United States, Andrei Muraru, expects the new office to support trade exchanges, innovation, and collaboration. The Arizona Embassy in Romania expressed appreciation to all Romanian and American officials and businesspeople who contributed to the realization of this project. The office is expected to strengthen business connections, stimulate innovation, and support sustainable economic relationships between the two regions.
