Unauthorized Exploration of Internet Connections in Germany
In a recent development, Plugsurfing, a popular fast-charging provider, has announced adjusted charging rates specifically for Germany. The changes, communicated to active users via email and reflected in the app, have seen the introduction of flat rate prices depending on the speed and sometimes the operator.
From July 11, 2025, Ionity charging points in Germany are priced at €0.54 per kWh for AC and €0.68 per kWh for DC charging, with no blocking fee. Monta charging points, on the other hand, have a higher price at €0.79 per kWh for AC and €0.96 per kWh for DC, plus a blocking fee after a certain time.
However, for countries other than Germany, no specific adjustments to Ionity or Monta pricing have been mentioned. Plugsurfing clarifies that pricing at their partner charging stations can vary significantly by location because the charging point operators set their own prices. These can be checked in real-time via the Plugsurfing app, meaning that prices outside Germany depend on the individual operators and locations.
In Germany, the tariff structure has been expanded from three to four tiers. Ionity has been given its own category with a moderate price adjustment. Monta will be included in the new fourth tariff group, reducing the price per kilowatt-hour for AC charging to 0.59 euros and for DC charging to 0.79 euros. Customers of Hamburg energy works and Eviny will see a decrease in AC tariff to 0.54 euros/kWh and a decrease in DC charging price to 0.68 euros/kWh.
A surcharge of 0.10 euros per minute after 240 minutes (AC) or 60 minutes (DC) still applies to all other charging station operators. This surcharge is intended to discourage prolonged charging sessions and ensure fair usage for all customers.
Plugsurfing continues to differentiate prices based on operator groups, providing customers with a range of pricing options to suit their needs. The changes in Germany are part of an ongoing effort to improve the charging experience for customers and encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.
