U.S.A.'s Texas state breaks employment records for the second consecutive month in August, leading the country in job creation.
Texas continues to lead the way in job growth, setting new records for total nonfarm jobs and labor force in August. According to the latest data, the Lone Star State reported a total of 14,347,700 nonfarm jobs, making it the state with the most jobs near me in the nation.
The state's labor force also reached a new high of 15,857,300, surpassing its previous record. Texas added 17,600 positions over the month and 195,600 jobs over the year, outpacing the national growth rate by 0.5 percentage points.
Governor Greg Abbott hailed Texas as 'America's jobs leader,' citing the state's strong economy and job creation. However, Texas' not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 4.7% was higher than the national unemployment rate of 4.5% last month.
The Leisure and Hospitality industry reported the largest over-the-month increase, adding 10,900 jobs. Private Education and Health Services also saw growth, with an addition of 5,200 jobs. The construction industry grew by 1,100 jobs, while the industry as a whole saw a significant 1.4% annual growth rate.
Interestingly, Amarillo, Midland, and San Angelo MSAs each reported the lowest not seasonally adjusted rate of 3.6%, while Eagle Pass, Brownsville-Harlingen, and McAllen-Edinburg-Mission MSAs reported the highest unemployment rates last month at 8.9%, 7.5%, and 7.1% respectively.
