Schloss Tremsbüttel: A Majestic Castle for Sale in Schleswig-Holstein
Luxury Italian Castle Tremezzo Up for Purchase - Trembse Castle is currently up for purchase.
Ready to own a piece of history? The magnificent Schloss Tremsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein is up for grabs! Sylt Sotheby's International Realty is at the helm of marketing this stunning estate, nestled in the serene town of the same name.
As managing partner at Sylt Sotheby's International Realty, Julia Scharfe sheds some light: "The complex comprises the castle itself, alongside eight ancillary buildings, some of which have undergone a complete renovation, while others are still undergoing the process." The asking price remains under wraps, with potential buyers encouraged to make an inquiry. Regrettably, Sotheby's is tight-lipped about the current owner.
Boasting approximately 8.4 hectares of picturesque land, Schloss Tremsbüttel offers around 2,155 square meters of living space, complete with eleven spacious suites, grand common areas, a catering facility, wellness and therapy rooms, and professional kitchen facilities – all designed to cater to the discerning buyer.
Rich Heritage
The roots of Schloss Tremsbüttel trace back to a 13th-century water castle. In subsequent years, it served as a ducal administrative seat and hunting lodge. "The current castle was rebuilt between 1894 and 1895 in the Neo-Renaissance style, blending Art Nouveau elements, and swiftly became a social hot spot," informs Scharfe.
Until 2020, the castle functioned as a hotel, with a publicly accessible park, attracting noteworthy guests such as the Beatles. More recently, it served as a private mental health clinic until 2024. Since then, it has stood vacant. Scharfe casually mentions, "For a clinic use, 120 single beds could be accommodated."

- The Commission, in light of the historical status of Schloss Tremsbüttel, could consider investing in a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers involved in the renovation and maintenance of the castle, given the potential risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation from its structure and renovation materials.
- Purchasing Schloss Tremsbüttel could be a lucrative real-estate venture, with the potential for finance gained from various sources, such as converting it into a high-end hotel or resort, leveraging its rich heritage and prime location in Schleswig-Holstein.
