Transport: Alternative route plan due to water main rupture
In the heart of the state capital Wiesbaden, changes are afoot in the public transportation system. The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden has issued a statement detailing updates to bus routes, particularly for Line 3.
Line 3, a key connection between the outskirts and the city centre, usually makes stops at important locations such as Michelsberg. Passengers can board Line 3 at various points on the outskirts and travel towards central Wiesbaden, where the line connects residential and commercial areas.
While specific detour information for Line 3 was not provided in the announcement, it's common for public transit routes to be affected by roadworks or special events. For up-to-date information on any detours, real-time schedules, and maps, users are advised to consult local transit apps, such as Moovit, or Wiesbaden’s official public transport information.
In addition to Line 3, other routes experiencing changes include Lines 27, 269, 274, 275, X79, and 273 (only destination BSZ). These lines now route towards Berufsschulzentrum, transiting through Hauptbahnhof A, Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Welfenstraße, Brunhildenstraße, and ending at "Berufsschulzentrum". The "Gartenfeldstraße" and "Wittelsbacherstraße" stops are served.
Lines 3, 27, 33, and School Buses (lines 3, 33 via Brunhildenstraße) now follow a new route towards the outskirts, skipping the "Hauptbahnhof A" stop and going through Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, and Welfenstraße, omitting the "Mainzer Straße" stop but serving the "Gartenfeldstraße" stop.
On the way to the city centre, buses of line 22 depart from the "Wittelsbacherstraße" stop, taking a detour via Mainzer Straße, Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, and Bahnhofstraße to the "Hauptbahnhof B" stop, or to the "Hauptbahnhof A" stop in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Ring. For those heading to Freizeitbad, the route transits through Hauptbahnhof A, Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, and ends at the regular route. The "Gartenfeldstraße" stop is served.
During construction work, the left-turn lane of Mainzer Straße will be closed in the direction of the city centre. Timing and fare information for the affected routes can be found via the Rhine-Main Transport Association's hotline.
