Transfer of control at Butz Inn in Wörth announced
The historic Butz, a significant part of Wörther's history and identity, has a new owner. Matthias Kulzer, an entrepreneur, has taken over the Butz Betriebs GmbH and associated properties, effective from September 1, 2023.
The Butz, which includes a traditional tavern, a butcher shop, and a guesthouse, was not part of the municipality's core business. The district and the city of Wörth an der Donau jointly operated the Butz since 2023 due to the lack of a tenant or buyer.
The initial financing, including interest and ancillary costs, has been repaid. This investment, however, did not involve the use of public funds, as confirmed by both the district and the city of Wörth. The joint operation aimed to preserve the Butz and secure approximately 30 jobs.
Mayor Josef Schütz sees the opportunity to preserve the Butz's tradition under the new ownership. He believes that Matthias Kulzer can set fresh impulses for the Butz's future. The district councilor, Tanja Schweiger, expressed appreciation for the loyalty and commitment of the employees and gratitude to all involved for their commitment.
Matthias Kulzer plans to bring more news, particularly in the areas of culture and music, to the Butz. His vision is to revive the cultural and musical events that the Butz is known for.
The Butz's operating area was acquired by the district in 2019 for its hospital's expansion. No new information about the sale process or the buyer was provided. The district councilor, Tanja Schweiger, expressed her gratitude for finding a buyer for the Butz.
