Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled its ambitious 2025 Traffic Improvement Plan, aiming to enhance road capacity, connectivity, traffic efficiency, and safety in key areas such as Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, and Al Safa.

The plan focuses on expanding Dubai’s road network, particularly in residential and high-traffic zones. One of the significant initiatives includes the recently completed upgrade at the Al Wasl Street and Al Manara Street intersection, which added a third lane for vehicles heading from Al Manara Street towards Sheikh Zayed Road. This upgrade boosted the intersection's capacity by 50% and reduced waiting times by up to 30%.

Another key aspect of the plan is enhancing connectivity across major corridors parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road. The aim is to facilitate smoother and seamless movement between internal districts. For instance, the plan includes major infrastructure projects on Al Safa Street, such as widening the street from three to four lanes in each direction and constructing two tunnels to facilitate smoother traffic movement.

The RTA's plan also prioritises increasing road capacity and improving traffic flow. In addition to the Al Wasl Street and Al Manara Street upgrade, the plan does not specify any new additions to lanes or U-turns in the mentioned areas but aims to streamline movement between internal districts. The plan's objectives include reducing waiting times, with vehicles coming from Sheikh Zayed Road experiencing a reduction of up to 35%.

The initiative continues to support Dubai's ongoing urban growth by upgrading infrastructure in residential zones. The plan aligns with broader efforts to improve road safety in Dubai and ensure seamless travel across its growing urban footprint. The RTA's 2025 Traffic Improvement Plan is an ongoing part of these broader efforts, working towards a safer, more efficient, and more connected Dubai.
