Tesla's 2025.26 Software Update Introduces Grok and More; However, a Particular Feature Will Be Unavailable for Canadian Motorists
Tesla has rolled out a new software update, version 2025.26, for its vehicles, introducing a host of new features and improvements. Among the updates, the Onboarding Guide for LHD versions of the new Model 3 and Model Y is designed to guide users through basic vehicle operations.
The update also introduces the Light Sync feature, which adds a more immersive ambiance during nighttime drives. This feature enhances interior accent lighting and responds rhythmically to music, also matching the dominant colour of the album art being played.
For those who value safety on the road, the Dashcam Viewer in the update now offers zooming and adjustable playback speed for easier incident review. Cybertruck owners can enjoy an updated Dashcam Viewer app with a grid view for accessing multiple camera angles.
Smarter Charging Arrival Info is another addition, providing drivers with additional details about Supercharger sites, such as valet service requirements and parking restrictions. On arrival at a Supercharger, drivers will receive a notification with details like access codes, parking floor levels, and restroom availability.
The update also includes customizable audio presets, allowing drivers to create and save multiple audio profiles.
However, Tesla's Grok AI assistant, a standalone tool integrated directly into the vehicle interface, is not available for Canadian drivers in the 2025.26 software update. Despite being launched for U.S. customers in beta form starting July 2025, Grok does not replace existing voice commands nor control car functions yet. Tesla has not provided a timeline for when Grok might become available north of the border.
Light Sync, which is only available for the Model 3, Model Y, 2026 Model S/X, and Cybertruck, is another feature not accessible to Canadian owners. The Onboarding Guide can be found under Controls > Service > Onboarding Guide in the new update.
Despite these limitations, the 2025.26 update brings significant improvements to audio controls, lighting effects, Dashcam functionality, and an easier onboarding process for new owners, making it a worthwhile update for Tesla owners in the U.S. and beyond.
