Supermarket chain Asda introduces a economical £3.74 meal deal; a comparison with competitors' offerings examined.
In a move to offer affordable dining options, Asda has launched its first ever fixed-price meal deal this week. The new offering, priced at £3.74, is claimed to be the lowest priced non-membership meal deal on the market with no loyalty cards needed to access the savings.
The meal deal is available both online and in all Asda stores, including Asda Express. Asda shoppers can choose from 132 mains, 336 snacks, and 222 drinks included in the meal deal. By using the new deal, Asda customers could save up to 50% in comparison to buying each of the items individually outside of the deal.
Asda's chicken and bacon sandwich, apple slices with a toffee dip, and branded items like Doritos tangy cheese tortilla grab bag crisps and Coco Cola Zero are just a few of the options available in the meal deal.
Other major supermarkets have also adjusted their meal deal prices. Sainsbury's standard meal deal now costs £3.95, an increase from £3.50 in July. Tesco Clubcard holders now pay £3.85 for Tesco's meal deal, an increase from £3.60 last month. However, the meal deal without a loyalty card costs £4.05, making it 12% more expensive.
Boots, though not a supermarket, also offers a meal deal. The Boots meal deal costs £3.75 with a Boots Advantage card and £4 without one. Boots offers its food Meal Deal deals at a discounted price tier when you have a Boots Advantage Card.
Co-op has the lowest supermarket meal deal price for loyalty card members at £3.50. Morrisons charges £4 for its meal deal without a Morrisons More Card, but £3.60 for customers with a membership card.
Among the DIY investing platforms, Hargreaves Lansdown, interactive investor, AJ Bell, InvestEngine, and Trading 212 are some of the notable names.
It's worth noting that food inflation rose to 5.1% in August, up from 4.9% in July. This increase in food prices might have influenced supermarkets to adjust their meal deal prices.
With Asda's new meal deal, customers can enjoy a nutritious and affordable meal without breaking the bank. The meal deal is a step towards helping customers save money on their grocery bills, especially during these times of rising food inflation.
