Struggle for industrial employment takes center stage, according to Socialist contender Stoch

In the lead-up to the 2026 state election, Andreas Stoch, chairman of the Baden-Württemberg SPD and the party's top candidate, has outlined key policy proposals focusing on economic security, social equity, and education reform.

Stoch, who served as culture minister in the green-red state government from 2013 to 2016, is particularly concerned about the potential decrease in income for people earning good money due to job relocation abroad. He believes that a state like Baden-Württemberg should fight for every industrial job, as demonstrated by his opposition to the outsourcing of 200 jobs by Bosch and ZF to Hungary.

The SPD's campaign also emphasizes standing up for workers and social justice. Stoch aims to rebuild the SPD’s voter support and regain a governmental role, potentially in coalition with the CDU and FDP.

In terms of education, while Stoch was culture minister, there was a computer error that left 1,440 teaching positions unfilled. However, he claims there was no indication about the error from the administration.
