Star Entertainment Undergoes Management Rearrangement as New Leadership Takes Charge in Governance Redesign
In a significant shake-up, The Star Entertainment Group, a leading name in the Australian hospitality and gambling industry, has announced a series of management and board changes across its properties, The Star Gold Coast and The Star Sydney.
At The Star Gold Coast, Jennifer Cronin has been appointed as the interim CEO for a 12-month term, subject to all regulatory and Ministerial approvals. Cronin, who brings substantial hospitality leadership experience, previously served as president and CEO of Wharf Hotels, Marco Polo Hotels, and Niccolo Hotels in Hong Kong. She has also been named as a director of The Star Entertainment Qld Custodian Pty Limited, the licensee of The Star Gold Coast Casino, for an initial three-year term.
Helen Galloway, on the other hand, has been appointed as an independent chair of The Star Sydney, subject to regulatory approval. Galloway began as an observer on the Star Sydney board and will take up the chair role in due course for an initial three-year term.
These appointments are part of The Star Entertainment Group's ongoing decentralisation strategy, embedding a new Governance Framework in line with regulators' requirements from the NSW Independent Casino Commission and the Queensland Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation.
Rowena Craze has been appointed as group chief risk officer, having joined the company in April 2024 as group chief audit officer. Patrick McGlinchey has been confirmed as group chief legal officer after serving 10 months as interim. Sarah Derry commenced her role as chief people officer effective July 1, 2025, and Peter Meliniotis, who joined in January as group technology transformation executive, has been promoted to group chief information officer.
These appointments are aimed at adding depth of experience at the board and executive levels and advancing the company's progress toward regulatory suitability.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Lucas Dunn, a New Jersey-born and raised copywriter, continues to make waves in the gambling industry. With a professional writing experience spanning more than six years and a background in psychology, having studied at Rutgers University, Dunn's reviews encompass casino, software provider, and game content. His clientele spans various countries such as the US, UK, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Canada. In addition to writing, Dunn also has experience as a painter, following in his father's footsteps.
It's important to note that both The Star Sydney and Gold Coast casinos are currently under state-appointed management with their licenses suspended, reflecting underlying operational challenges. New members have joined The Star Gold Coast's legal, IT, talent, and HR departments to support the ongoing changes.
