SPD Rejects Care Benefit Cuts, Pushes for Solidarity and Financial Stability
The SPD has firmly rejected proposals to reduce care benefits in Germany. Deputy parliamentary group leader Dagmar Schmidt has spoken out against abolishing care level 1 and has called for a solid financial future for the care insurance system.
Schmidt suggests bolstering the income side of the care system and encouraging everyone to participate in solidarity to secure its future. The SPD aims to stabilize the car insurance financially for the long term. To achieve this, the federal-state working group, known as the Zukunftspakt Pflege, is developing proposals. This group includes the Federal Minister of Health and the ministers responsible for car insurance from the federal states. Schmidt expects careful evaluation and discussion of these proposals, warning against repeatedly debating cuts to care benefits.
The SPD's stance is clear: they reject cuts to care benefits and want to ensure financial stability for the car insurance system. The future pact on care is working on proposals to achieve this, with the SPD encouraging solidarity and careful consideration of all options.
