Shein Makes Physical Retail Debut in France, Creating 200 Jobs
Chinese ultra-fast fashion giant Shein is making its debut in the physical retail world. The company has inked a deal with Société des Grands Magasins (SGM) to open six integrated boutiques within BHV in Paris and affiliated Galeries Lafayette stores across France, starting this November. This move is set to create 200 jobs directly and indirectly.
The new boutiques, Shein's first foray into physical retail, will be shop-in-shop spaces within the department stores. The locations include BHV in Paris, along with Galeries Lafayette stores in Dijon, Grenoble, Reims, Limoges, and Angers. This expansion comes as the fashion industry grapples with a dilemma: partnering with Shein for its vast customer base, or risking potential consequences of such a tie-up.
Shein's entry into the French physical retail market is significant, with the opening of six boutiques creating new employment opportunities. The fashion industry watches with interest as Shein continues to grow and adapt its business model.
