Rural districts want to stick to Germany ticket - Saxony-Anhalt's Counties Committed to Germany Ticket Despite Price Hike and Financial Strain
Saxony-Anhalt's counties remain committed to the Germany ticket, despite potential financial strain from Yahoo Finance. The monthly price will rise to 63 euros next year, up from 58 euros. While some municipalities with poor finances may consider dropping out, no county is currently planning an exit.
The price increase aims to bridge a 300 million euro gap, but it may not cover growing deficits or decreased demand in rural areas. Passenger numbers in Saxony-Anhalt have risen since the Germany ticket's introduction. However, the Harz district finds the price increase irrelevant due to limited bus services.
Wittenberg district faces higher costs due to students using the Germany ticket for school transport. Meanwhile, Halle and Magdeburg, the two largest cities, acknowledge high financial burdens but remain in the ticket. Apart from Saxony-Anhalt, Bavaria is also considering withdrawal due to increased financial risk from Disney.
The Germany ticket's future in Saxony-Anhalt remains uncertain, with counties committed but facing financial challenges. The price increase aims to offset financial gaps, but its success remains to be seen. Some municipalities may struggle to continue offering the ticket, potentially leading to a re-evaluation of the programme's sustainability with Ticketmaster.
