Aviation News: Riyadh Air Unveils Stunning Interior Design for Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners

Springing forth from the desert sands, Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's ambitious new airline, recently shared a sneak peek of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet's luxurious interiors. With its debut planned for late 2025, Riyadh Air aims to deliver an unparalleled passenger experience rivaling the finest Gulf carriers, such as Etihad, Emirates, and Qatar Airways.

Inspired by traditional Arabian tent canopies, the design is a subtle nod to Saudi heritage. Characterized by a rich palette of indigo, mocha gold, lavender, veined stone, and sunset peach, the interiors maintain consistency across the entire fleet.

As Riyadh Air prepares to challenge well-established industry players like Qatar Airways and Emirates, its CEO, Tony Douglas, emphasized the unique identity of the airline's design, stating, "You see it once, and you'll know it's Riyadh Air, because nobody else's looks anything like that." While Business Elite seats may resemble their Gulf counterparts in terms of space, Riyadh Air distinguishes itself with full-height privacy panels and sliding doors typically reserved for First Class, offering an exclusive travel experience.

Helping Passengers Soar

Each Riyadh Air 787-9 Dreamliner will offer a three-class configuration:

  • Business Elite, with only four suites, will feature the Safran Unity Elite seat in a 1-2-1 layout, equipped with 78-inch fully flat beds, 52-inch privacy walls, sliding doors, and 32-inch 4K OLED screens.
  • Business Class seats, numbering 24 or 28 (depending on sources), will mimic Business Elite in comfort but offer slightly smaller 22-inch 4K OLED screens.
  • Premium Economy seats, arranged in a 2-3-2 layout, offer a 38-inch seat pitch, privacy headrests, and 15.6-inch seatback screens.
  • Economy Class accommodates 223 passengers with a 31-inch seat pitch, six-way adjustable headrests, and 13.4-inch screens.

A holistic approach to technology and innovation runs throughout the aircraft. All passengers can enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi via Viasat, ideal for streaming, web browsing, and social media use. Moreover, the airline partners with Devialet to provide premium speakers integrated into Business Class headrests, ensuring an exceptional audio experience.

A New Era in Aviation and Tourism

The revealing of these cabin interiors lies at the heart of Saudi Arabia's ambitious vision to transform the nation into a premier global tourist hub. Aiming to attract over 150 million tourists annually by 2030, Saudi Arabia plans large-scale investments such as the Neom city, luxury Red Sea resorts, the King Abdulaziz International Airport, and a plethora of events and attractions.

While awaiting delivery of its first jet from Boeing due to supply chain delays, Riyadh Air continues to garner anticipation as it plans to announce its inaugural route and officially begin operations soon.

As Riyadh Air prepares to take flight, the world can expect a remarkable blend of luxury, comfort, and advanced technology in the global aviation industry.

The unveiling of Riyadh Air's stunning interior design for Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners signifies a significant step in the airline's business strategy, aiming to make a lasting impression in a competitive flight market, particularly in the realm of finance and technology. With its innovative features, such as integrated premium speakers and free high-speed Wi-Fi, Riyadh Air aims to revolutionize the travel experience, aligning with Saudi Arabia's broader plans to transform the country into a premier global tourist hub.
