Sales in marketplaces and fairs across the Krasnodar region reach nearly 60 billion rubles
In the first quarter of 2025, sales in Kuban's markets and fairs saw a solid surge, skyrocketing by a whopping 9.1% compared to the previous year. And guess what? From January to May, these pop-up shopping havens towered to a grand total of 59.9 billion rubles!
Now, get this - these sales points contributed a hefty 6.6% to the regional sales pie! Now that's impressive!
Roman Kurinnoy, the big cheese of Kuban's consumer sector department, couldn't be more excited. He reckons that consumers flock to these lively marketplaces because they adore the fresh produce, local goodies, and the chance to chat with the skillful product makers themselves.
Kurinnoy suspects that the dip in sales at retail chains might be due to customers choosing alternative shopping experiences like markets and fairs. He isn't wrong, those traditional market spots, brimming with local charm, have a magic all their own!
Let's take a walk down memory lane in 2024. The turnover at Kuban's markets reached an insane 192.6 billion rubles, marking a whopping 24.9% increase over the 2023 figure! Meanwhile, the retail sales share slid down by a significant 4.7%.
Now, moving on to the digital avenue, e-commerce saw a dip in share from 5.5% to 5.4%. But rest assured, the turnover in online sales leaped a remarkable 14.4% to reach a staggering 159.2 billion rubles.
Oh, and you'll want to know this - Kuban's wine exports went up by an astounding 35% too!
