Construction on the Western Obhod in Krasnodar's city center is in full swing! Kickoff for this high-profile project starts June 6, with roads under construction from "Lenta" to German Village and from German Village to Middle Street - a total of approximately 5.4 km. Expect some traffic restrictions during this phase.

The Nitty-Gritty on the Western Obhod Reconstruction Plan 📊

The revamped roadway will expand to six lanes, giving drivers a breezy three-lane ride in both directions. To accommodate the extra width, trees will be chopped down along these sections, with roughly 2,006 trees set to make way for progress.

Green Thumb's Up 🌱

Good news for eco-conscious citizens! The funds garnered from cutting down these trees will be earmarked for reforestation. New vegetation will be planted post-construction, and the types of trees will be chosen by members of the ecological council.

"Limbs" Ahead! 🚧

Andrei Shvabauer, Deputy Director of the "Center for Monitoring Road Traffic and Transport," confirmed that no unnecessary tree cutting will take place. The trees targeted for removal have been accounted for, with boundaries marked by a geodetic team during the inventory process.

"Approximately 200 million rubles have already been allocated for replanting," Shvabauer shared.

The planting will happen swiftly, with construction expected to wrap up by 2027. Tree planting is ideally done during the spring and fall seasons, and given the extended spring conditions in 2025, specialists aim to make the most of the favorable weather.

Blasting Through Challenges 💥

The project faces some hurdles, primarily when dealing with underground utilities. Water drainage networks and tram tracks will require earthworks, which might lead to unexpected network issues that could delay the construction process.

What's Next for the Western Obhod? ⏭️

Once the initial construction phase is complete, the next stage will commence from Middle Street to the transport interchange at Dzerzhinsky Street. Keep an eye out for more updates on this transformative project in the heart of Krasnodar! 🌇
