Rhineland-Palatinate Police Launches Innovative IT & Economics Specialist Course
The Police of Rhineland-Palatinate is set to launch an innovative qualification course for experienced IT and economics specialists, starting November 1, 2025. This course, a first of its kind, will enable participants to transition into the criminal police profession, equipped with sovereign powers and police equipment.
Applicants must hold a university degree in IT or economics-related fields, along with relevant professional experience. The one-year course will take place at the Police Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate and in state authorities, offering lateral entry into the police force.
IT criminalists, trained through this course, will conduct independent investigations in cybercrime, analyze digital data, and support other criminal fields with strong IT connections. Meanwhile, economic criminalists will focus on combating offenses such as securities and financing fraud, insolvency crimes, or accounting fraud. The course aims to convey legal and tactical knowledge to participants as specialists in the criminal police.
Practical course content includes deployment, driving, and shooting training, preparing graduates to apply their IT or economic expertise alongside their newfound criminal officer roles.
Applications for this unique opportunity are open until March 31, 2025, exclusively through the online applicant portal of the Police of Rhineland-Palatinate. Successful candidates will begin their new careers in the criminal police from November 2025, contributing their specialized skills to combat modern, tech-driven crimes.
