New CEO Takes the Helm at Lotto Baden-Württemberg
Paul Nemeth, a seasoned professional with a diverse background in both the private IT sector and public politics, has taken over as CEO of Lotto Baden-Württemberg starting November 1, 2025.
Nemeth, a native of Böblingen and a long-time member of the state parliament, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has spent decades working for a large international IT company, including a stint in New York, and served as a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament for 15 years.
His expertise spans personnel management, information technology, marketing, and early engagement with sustainability topics, all of which are considered relevant for leading the state lottery company.
Michael Grepl, the current director of Lotto Baden-Württemberg, will act as interim CEO until November 1, 2025. The company, which employs over 200 people and reported game stakes exceeding 1.1 billion euros in 2024, is entirely owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg through a holding company.
Georg Wacker, the previous CEO, will leave the company on July 31, 2025. Wacker's contract was due to expire at the end of 2027, but he has requested an early termination based on personal reasons. During his tenure, the business development of Lotto Baden-Württemberg reached a record high in game stakes, new products were developed, digitization was advanced, and the alignment with sustainability goals was strengthened.
Gisela Splett, the chairwoman of the supervisory board, thanked Wacker for his great commitment and successful leadership. The proceeds from Lotto Baden-Württemberg have historically been used to benefit the general public.
Nemeth's experiences in the economy, especially in human resources, information technology, and marketing, as well as his political and administrative background as a former member of the state parliament, add value to his new role.
