RelocatingTakeda's German headquarters from Konstanz to Berlin announced
In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its presence in Berlin, pharmaceutical company Takeda has announced the relocation of its German headquarters from Konstanz to the German capital. This decision is part of a broader realignment, focusing operations on Berlin and other existing locations [1].
The move comes in response to ongoing economic pressures in the pharmaceutical industry and reflects Takeda's commitment to the German market, which is the fourth-largest globally for the company. The administration of Takeda's German headquarters will be moved to Berlin within two and a half years [1].
Approximately 60 employees currently based in Konstanz will be affected by this relocation. Takeda has indicated that the transition will be completed by the end of 2028. The company plans to communicate transparently with the affected employees and is in ongoing discussions with the works council regarding the implications of the move, signaling that employee welfare and consultation are key considerations in the process [1].
It's important to note that the closure of the Konstanz site and the relocation of the headquarters will not affect the operations at the Singen site, where around 1,100 employees are based. Takeda acquired the Singen site from pharmaceutical company Altana [2].
The relocation of Takeda's German headquarters to Berlin is not a new development. Discussions have been underway for some time, and the company acquired the Danish pharmaceutical company Nycomed in 2011, which led to several hundred job losses in Konstanz [3].
However, the production site in Singen will remain operational, ensuring the continuity of Takeda's operations in Germany [4]. The company's commitment to the German market and its employees is evident in this strategic decision, which is aimed at securing a strong future for Takeda in the competitive pharmaceutical industry.

Takeda's strategic decision to relocate its German headquarters from Konstanz to Berlin signifies a focus on business operations in the German market, a crucial sector for the company globally. This move, however, comes amidst ongoing economic pressures in the pharmaceutical industry, demonstrating the company's commitment to securing a strong future in the competitive sector.
