Rail maintenance work in Cascais issued a caution for passengers, advising delays and potential service disruptions during the designated hours.
Starting from the 12th of May, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) has announced the resumption of night train circulation between Cais do Sodré and Algés, marking the completion of construction work related to the Lisbon Metro project. During this project, a new tunnel linking the future Santos station to the current Cais do Sodré station was constructed, part of the Circular line.
The Metro work, carried out in collaboration with IP and CP - Comboios de Portugal, imposed constraints on rail traffic between Algés and Cais do Sodré during the night hours. To minimize potential disruptions to passenger mobility, bus services were provided as a substitute for the disrupted train routes. The schedules and stops for these bus services can be found on the CP website.

During the Lisbon Metro expansion, IP and CP collaborated on a project that included constructing a new tunnel connecting the Santos station to the Cais do Sodré station, impacting the night train services between Algés and Cais do Sodré. To alleviate transportation challenges, bus services were arranged as an alternative, and their schedules and stops can be found on the CP website.
Despite the resumption of night train circulation in Portugal, the construction project has resulted in a shift towards reliance on alternative modes of transportation, such as buses and the wider public-transit network, and possibly presented opportunities for the development of the local finance and transportation industry.
