Prominent businessman Shri Shishir Bajaj of the Bajaj Group has been awarded the Sarvottam Nagrik Sanman 2025, a distinguished honor.

In a grand ceremony graced by esteemed personalities, Shri Shishir Bajaj, the chairman of the Bajaj Foundation, was honoured with the Sarvottam Nagrik Sanman 2025. The event took place at Hotel Sahara Star, and the award was presented by Meghashrey Foundation and Shrimati Seema Singh.

The award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to society through quiet dedication and service. Shri Shishir Bajaj's leadership and the Bajaj Group's efforts have brought about notable changes in rural development and nation-building.

The Bajaj Group's initiatives have impacted over 6 lakh families and approximately 22 lakh individuals across regions such as Wardha (Mahararashtra), Sikar (Rajasthan), and Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh). These initiatives focus on various aspects, including water conservation, sustainable agriculture practices, women empowerment, renewable energy adoption, and farmer support.

One of the key initiatives is the implementation of farmer training programs called Kisan Paathshalas. The Bajaj Foundation has also been instrumental in establishing Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to foster agro-entrepreneurship. Moreover, the Group encourages the adoption of renewable energy sources, such as solar pumps and biogas plants, and promotes innovative education programs like Design for Change to nurture rural youth creativity.

Under Shri Shishir Bajaj’s leadership, alongside his sons Kushagra and Apoorv Bajaj, these initiatives have been implemented to advance socio-economic development and make Indian villages self-reliant (Aatmanirbhar), aligning with the vision for a developed India by 2047.

The ceremony saw the presence of eminent personalities such as Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Maharashtra Governor, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Padma Shri Dr. Shankar Mahadevan, Imtiaz Ali, Padma Bhushan Anupam Kher, and Padma Shri Vijender Singh. Shri Ram Shinde, Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council, and Shri Ashish Shelar, Cabinet Minister of Culture, were also present at the ceremony.

Shri Shishir Bajaj, in his speech, traced the origins of the Bajaj Group to 1926, when his grandfather Shri Jamnalal Bajaj founded the group to support India's freedom struggle. The Bajaj Group's first sugar factory was established in Uttar Pradesh in 1932 with a vision to make India self-sufficient in sugar production.
