The decision, issued by the administrative court of Düsseldorf (6 K 11166/24), also mandates the city to cover the plaintiff's court and legal fees, estimated to be around 1,250 euros.

The discontinuation of the PBL was a result of a lawsuit filed by architect Christoph Schmitz and lawyer Olaf Moehring, who argued that the bike lane was a misjudgment. Schmitz, the architect, still considers the PBL a total misjudgment.
