Prices of Cream, Butter, and Apples Increase in Krasnodar
In the city of Krasnodar, residents have been experiencing a fluctuation in food prices over the past week. According to the Krasnodar City Price and Tariff Office, prices for several food products have seen an increase, while others have decreased.
Between July 1 and 8, the prices for milk, sour cream, buckwheat, and some other products decreased in Krasnodar. However, the price of apples increased the most among all agricultural products during this period. The price of butter also rose by 3.7%, reaching 1549.5 rubles per kilogram.
Pork and flour also experienced price increases, while the cost of meat canned goods for children surged significantly by 4.3%. Additionally, apples, carrots, and table salt became more expensive in Krasnodar.
Several factors are contributing to these price changes. Agricultural production challenges, seasonal and supply issues, costs related to storage and pest infestations, inflation and economic factors, and changes in agricultural export policies are all playing a role.
Krasnodar, being a major grain-producing region, is currently experiencing lower crop yields than last year, which can constrain supply chains and push prices up. The end of one harvest and the lag before the next can also tighten supply and raise prices temporarily.
Storage problems and widespread pest infestations have also impacted the availability and quality of produce like apples and carrots, leading to higher market prices. General inflationary pressures in Russia also affect food prices, with staple groceries showing marked price differences across Russian cities, though Krasnodar tends to have lower prices than places like Saint Petersburg.
The recent removal of the wheat export tax by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture may indirectly influence domestic grain availability and pricing, though the immediate impact on retail food prices remains to be seen.
However, there has been a recent decrease in the price of buckwheat in Krasnodar, providing some relief for consumers. The Krasnodar City Price and Tariff Office has not yet released any information regarding the actions they are taking to address the rising food prices.
As the city continues to navigate these price fluctuations, residents and businesses will be closely watching the trends to make informed decisions about their food purchases.
