Porsche Boosts Stake in Rimac to 24% with £60M Investment
Porsche has strengthened its partnership with Rimac Automobili, increasing its stake in the Croatian electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer from 15.5% to 24% with an additional investment of £60 million. This move comes as Porsche continues to benefit from Rimac's innovative technology and expertise.
Porsche's latest investment follows a series of strategic moves by the German automaker to expand its cooperation with Rimac. Porsche has placed orders for 'highly innovative series components', demonstrating its confidence in Rimac's capabilities. Rimac, in turn, has been working with a diverse range of EV manufacturers, including Hyundai/Kia, Aston Martin, and Koenigsegg, showcasing its versatility and appeal as a technology partner.
Hyundai's investment in Rimac is another testament to the Croatian company's growing influence in the EV sector. Rimac's workforce has more than doubled since 2018, reaching almost 1,000 employees, reflecting its rapid expansion and success. This growth is supported by its ownership within the Volkswagen Group, which also includes brands like Seat, Audi, and Porsche.
Porsche's increased investment in Rimac underscores the value it places on the Croatian company's innovative technology. As Rimac continues to grow and collaborate with major automakers, its role in shaping the future of electric vehicles becomes increasingly significant.
