"We started laying the finishing layer of asphalt on Vokzalnaya Street yesterday (May 14). We've laid a first batch of about 600 tons. Today we're continuing. I think we can finish the straight part within the next two weeks. However, intersections, connections, and ramps might take a bit longer. We're planning to be done by mid-June," said Tauшкинов.
He clarified that traffic on Vokzalnaya Street differs from central arteries, making it easier for workers to lay asphalt during the day. However, intersections nearby will be worked on at night to avoid inconveniencing motorists.
Asphalt Work on Five Tomsk Streets Scheduled by October 7
Beginning May 19, contractors plan to start dismantling part of Ulitsa Железнодорожная. First, they'll lay the lower asphalt layers on Железнодорожная and Новосибирская streets to install curbstones. Then they'll move on to the approach road to Tomsk because it doesn't have curbstones and gutters. Preliminary work is set to start at the end of June.
Earlier reports revealed that road repairs in Tomsk are being carried out under several programs. The main streets are being remodeled under the national project "Safe and Quality Roads," which was renamed "Infrastructure for Life" last year. A total of 900 million rubles has been allocated from federal, regional, and local budgets for the project's implementation in 2025. In all, 14 road sections in Tomsk are set to be repaired this year, with five having moved from the 2024 schedule.
