Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP Recognized on National Law Journal's Appellate Hot List for a Second Consecutive Year
Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP has once again been honoured on The National Law Journal's Appellate Hot List, a recognition that underscores the firm's exceptional prowess in appellate advocacy.
This latest recognition follows the firm's inclusion on the National Law Journal's Defense Hot List in both 2006 and 2007, and its selection as a finalist in The American Lawyer's biennial Litigation Department of the Year competition in 2008. The firm's appellate practice, comprising 25 lawyers, has been nationally recognised for its long-established practices and highly experienced team.
Notable victories include the Jimenez v. Quarterman case at the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. v. AMC Entertainment Inc. at the Federal Court of Appeals, and Starbucks Corp. v. Superior Court at the California Court of Appeal. These cases, among others, have demonstrated the firm's ability to handle significant appellate wins, with the financial stakes or an important legal principle at stake in each case.
The appellate practice includes exceptionally experienced and respected figures in the courtroom. A former long-term assistant to the solicitor general, who has argued more Supreme Court cases than any woman in private practice today, is part of the practice. Additionally, a former federal appellate court judge, a former state appellate court judge, and several lawyers with years of experience as clerks at various levels of the judicial system, including the U.S. Supreme Court, state supreme courts, federal appellate circuit courts, federal district courts, bankruptcy courts, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, also form part of the team.
The National Law Journal noted that Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP's twenty-five high-profile victories have elevated it to the upper echelon of appellate practices. The journal also highlighted the firm's impressive track record overall, as well as its international presence, with over 800 lawyers across the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
However, it should be noted that no publicly available information identifies a specific person who recently joined the firm's appellate practice as an assistant to the Solicitor General.
The National Law Journal's Appellate Hot List recognises firms with stellar records in appellate advocacy. To be included, firms must have scored at least one significant appellate win since February 2008, and the significant appellate wins must be before the U.S. Supreme Court, a federal circuit court, or a state court of last resort.
With its latest recognition, Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP continues to cement its reputation as a leading appellate practice in the United States.
