OSM Launches India's First Autonomous Electric Three-Wheeler
OSM, a leading Indian electric vehicle manufacturer, has launched Swayamgati, its first autonomous three-wheeler. The vehicle, a 100 per cent electric model, aims to reduce emissions and lower operational costs. OSM founder and chairman Uday Narang described the launch as a 'bold step into the future of Indian transportation'.
Swayamgati integrates OSM's electric three-wheeler platform with an AI-driven retrofit autonomy system. The vehicle has successfully completed Phase 1 pilot testing on a 3-km route with seven stops, demonstrating autonomous navigation and obstacle detection. The person who integrated the platform is not publicly specified.
OSM has begun commercial rollout under Phase 2 in structured, semi-controlled environments. The system requires prior mapping of routes, customisable to the client's needs for distance and stop coverage. Swayamgati has been engineered for Indian traffic conditions, low-speed, high-density routes, and varied terrains.
OSM operates four plants globally to support production, including three in India and one in Dubai's Jafza free zone. The company boasts a network of over 200 dealerships and service centres across India for after-sales support.
The launch of Swayamgati positions India as a contender in the global autonomous mobility market, projected to reach USD 620 billion by 2030. OSM's bold move into autonomous vehicles signals a shift in the Indian transportation landscape, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
