In the heart of Wiesbaden, Germany, commuters and residents will experience a change in their regular bus service on Line 9, starting from August 1, 2025. This alteration is due to a traffic trial on the banks of the Rhine at Biebrich that will close a section of Rheingaustraße to motorized traffic, including buses.

The detour for Line 9 affects the stretch between Glarusstraße and Schloss Biebrich. During this period, buses will be rerouted to avoid the restricted zone. The residential area remains accessible to authorized residents and services via the "Anlieger frei" regulation from the direction of Rathausstraße, but regular bus access is not permitted directly in front of Schloss Biebrich.

The exact detour route for Line 9 is yet to be specified, but it is clear that buses cannot use the Rheingaustraße immediately in front of Biebrich Palace during the trial evenings from 6 pm to 10 pm on Friday through Sunday. Access to residences is maintained only under special permissions and from alternate directions.

For the most accurate and updated information on the exact detour route of Line 9, passengers are advised to consult ESWE Verkehr’s official announcements and updates, as they manage Wiesbaden’s public transport and provide detailed detour plans during construction or traffic trials.

Passengers are also reminded that the stop "Wilhelm-Kopp-Straße" will be omitted during this period for Line 9 trips in the direction of Schierstein. Line 9 trips in the direction of Mainz are not affected by this measure.

Detailed information about the changes can be found on ESWE Verkehr’s website, and timetable information for the affected stops can be found at the timetable displays. The ESWE-Verkehr service phone is reachable from Monday to Friday between 7 and 18 o'clock and on Saturdays from 8 to 15 o'clock under the phone number (0611) 45022450.

The publisher of this press release is the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden. Passengers are advised to consider these changes when planning their trips and to allow additional time if necessary.

  1. In the context of Wiesbaden's public transport, it appears that the changes in Line 9's bus service, starting August 1, 2025, may have implications for the transportation industry, as the detour will affect financing and schedules.
  2. Given the closure of a section of Rheingaustraße for motorized traffic, including buses, for the public-transit sector, financial adjustments may be necessary, as detailed detour routes and alternative stops will need to be established by ESWE Verkehr for Line 9, particularly during the trial evenings from 6 pm to 10 pm on Friday through Sunday.
