MTN South Africa Announces New Leadership with Ferdi Moolman as CEO

MTN Group has announced a significant overhaul of its leadership at MTN South Africa (MTN SA) as part of a Group-wide strategic realignment. The changes, effective from 1 November 2025, will see Ferdi Moolman take the helm as CEO and Executive Director, replacing Charles Molapisi [1][4].

Moolman, who previously served as CEO of MTN Nigeria, steps into the role with a mandate to accelerate growth and strengthen returns in South Africa. He will be joined by Yolanda Cuba, who will assume the role of Deputy CEO and Executive Director. The duo will jointly drive MTN SA's renewed focus on performance and market leadership [12].

Cuba, who was previously Vice President for Southern and East Africa, will bring her extensive experience to the table. Moolman, on the other hand, is no stranger to the challenges of leading a major telecommunications company, having successfully steered MTN Nigeria in the past.

Charles Molapisi, the outgoing CEO, will return to the Group Exco as Chief Technology and Information Officer, with a new focus on accelerating AI adoption. This move is part of MTN's strategy to sharpen its focus beyond Ambition 2025, consolidating around three growth platforms: Connectivity, Fintech, and Digital Infrastructure [5].

Mazen Mroué will focus fully on Digital Infrastructure growth, including fibre, data centres, and satellite partnerships. Meanwhile, Selorm Adadevoh will become Chief Commercial, Strategy and Transformation Officer. This restructuring aims to support the accelerated execution of MTN's strategy beyond 2025 and greater value creation for stakeholders over the medium term [6].

In other leadership changes, Sindisiwe (Sindi) Mabaso-Koyana will become Chairperson of MTN SA in the first quarter of 2026. She will succeed Mike Harper, who retires after a decade of leadership. Ebenezer Asante assumes leadership as VP of Ghana, Southern and East Africa, while Karl Toriola expands his remit as VP for Francophone Africa [7][8].

These leadership changes, according to Ralph Mupita, Group President and CEO, MTN, illustrate the depth of talent and experience across the Group [9]. The changes are expected to position MTN SA for continued growth and success in the future.
