Media group acquires eight magazine titles
Klambt Media Group Expands Women's Magazine Portfolio with Acquisition of Funke Titles
The Klambt Media Group, a prominent player in the German media industry, has announced the acquisition of eight women's magazines from Funke Mediengruppe. The acquisition includes titles such as "Current Crime", "Mirror Woman", "Mirror Woman Royal", "New World", "Golden Leaf", "Echo of the Woman", and "Current Woman".
This strategic move continues Klambt's focus on the German-language consumer magazine market. The combined circulation of these eight magazines exceeds 600,000 copies, reaching around 3.4 million readers each week.
The acquisition does not extend to any other media properties or businesses outside of the eight specified magazines. The terms and financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
The acquisition has been officially approved and is expected to result in approximately 90 employees from Funke's Ismaning location joining the Klambt Media Group.
The Klambt Media Group, headquartered in Speyer, has strengthened its portfolio in the women's magazine segment with this acquisition. The current managing director for Klambt's program magazines is Ralf Meyke, who recently turned 61.
In other recent developments, Tobias Conrad, who was involved in the joint venture BCN including Klambt, has stepped down. Susanne Müller and Carsten Sander now lead BCN, which includes Klambt as a minority partner.
The acquisition was reported by an unspecified antitrust authority, but the impact on Klambt's overall operations or strategy remains undetailed in the report.
Women's magazines have long been a core competency of the Klambt Media Group, and this acquisition further cements their position in the women's magazine sector, particularly in the sports magazine segment, where they have made previous acquisitions involving Funke titles.
