The Valencian Courts granted approval to the Generalitat's proposed budget for 2025, presided by Carlos Mazón, following votes from the Popular Party and Vox, as they incorporated some of their demands. This marks the second budget that Mazón's administration has successfully passed.

The approval came after a day-long session in the Valencian Courts, commencing at 10:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 PM with voting and endorsement of the budget and its accompanying law. Beyond the Popular Party and Vox, votes against the budget came from the PSPV and Compromís.

In his opening address at the Alicante Directors Opendir forum, Mazón highlighted that these budgets, which represent the second approved by his government, serve to consolidate the shift initiated two years prior with major citizen support. Claiming these budgets as a step towards progress and reconstruction in areas impacted by October 29 damage, he expressed optimism.

Healthcare investment is expected to receive a million euros more than in the previous year, which Mazón deems as making this budget the "most social in the history of the Valencian Community." He also expressed gratitude towards Vox for "meeting the challenge" to push the budget through at this crucial moment in recent Valencian Community history.

Conversely, the spokesperson for Compromís, Joan Baldoví, denounced these budgets, describing them as "Ventorro budgets." He believes these budgets are not intended to aid the Valencian Community, but instead, to serve as a political life buoy for a president allegedly on his way out. Baldoví has labeled the budgets "those of hatred and revenge," with the extreme right of Vox guilty of losing decency and honesty. He argues that the PP and Vox do not prioritize the victims in their electoral interests, irreverently dubbing Vox as incompetent and insubmissive.

During the budget plenary, condensed into a single day per agreement between the Popular Party and Vox, the PSPV deputy José Díaz perceived this as a "democratic anomaly" driven by fear that Mazón would face demands of resignation at the Les Corts. He advocated for Mazón's resignation due to his questionable leadership and criticized the PP for attempting to avoid a confrontation with the community-wide cries for his resignation.

After the assembly, Mazón expressed readiness to meet with the families of flood victims, reaffirming that he was always open to their requests, despite some requesting discretion. He was also open to engaging with those associations who initially refused to meet with him, confirming that he had already spoken with various victims who expressed concern.

As the public scrutiny mounts, Mazón's continuing tenure as President of the Generalitat is a matter of personal preference, deemed his "last priority," with an emphasis on the reconstruction efforts. Despite pressure or calls for his resignation, Mazón said his responsibility to the position remains his focal point.

  1. The budget, deemed the "most social in the history of the Valencian Community," by Carlos Mazón, has received criticism from opposition parties such as Compromís, who label it as "Ventorro budgets" and accuse it of being politically motivated instead of aiding the community.
  2. In the realm of personal finance, the budgeting policies and legislation enacted by the administration of Carlos Mazón have been the subject of debate, with parties like Compromís arguing that they prioritize political interests over the needs of the community.
  3. The approval of the Generalitat's 2025 budget by the Valencian Courts marks a significant moment in the political landscape, as it reflects the influence of right-wing parties like the Popular Party and Vox in policy-and-legislation matters, particularly in the realm of finance and budgeting.
