Maruti Suzuki Victoris Outshines Kia Seltos in Safety, Value
Maruti Suzuki's latest offering, the Victoris, has made waves in the Indian automobile market. It boasts a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, undercuts its competitors on price, and offers a range of engine options. Meanwhile, the Kia Seltos, despite its powerful engine lineup and luxurious features, has faced criticism for its safety rating and higher price points.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris, priced nearly ₹70,000 less than the Kia Seltos in its base trim, offers a compelling package. It features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a factory-fitted CNG option, and a strong hybrid with AllGrip Select AWD system. Safety is paramount with six airbags, ESC, a 360° camera, HUD, and Level-2 ADAS calibrated for Indian conditions. In contrast, the Kia Seltos, while offering a more powerful 1.5-litre NA petrol unit, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel mill, received only a 3-star safety rating from Global NCAP in 2020.
The Kia Seltos does, however, offer a seamless dual-screen layout on the dash, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and GT/X-Line cosmetic packages. It provides Level-2 ADAS from the GTX+ trim onward, but the Maruti Suzuki Victoris offers a gesture-powered tailgate, 64-colour ambient interior lighting, and extensive Suzuki Connect functions with OTA updates. Mid-variant pricing of the Victoris is often lower than comparable Seltos trims.
In summary, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris offers exceptional value with its competitive pricing, robust safety features, and diverse engine options. The Kia Seltos, while offering powerful engines and luxurious features, may not provide the same level of safety or value for money, particularly in its lower trims.
