Suburban railway fundamental line in Munich experiences repeated disruptions - Main line of Munich's S-Bahn transportation system has been shut down once more.

Get ready for some major changes in your commuting routine! This upcoming weekend, Munich's S-Bahn main line is shutting down again, and it's time to brace yourself for significant disruptions. The construction mayhem on tracks, switches, and stations has been announced by Deutsche Bahn, ensuring a chaotic travel experience from Friday to Monday.

Brace for Impact: Avoid Pasing-Leuchtenbergring-Giesing Stretch

The affected area is none other than the stretch between Pasing, Leuchtenbergring, and Giesing. Prepare to bid a temporary goodbye to trains running over the S-Bahn tracks from Friday evening to Monday morning. Many lines will be diverted or will start and end earlier. Some lines will completely bypass the affected section.

Fear not, as every ten minutes, replacement buses will make their way channeling the stations between Pasing and the main station.

Adios S-Bahn, Hola U-Bahn, Bus, or Regional Train

No need to panic! You can still commute between the main station and the airport using the S6 and regional trains without any stopovers. In addition, bus 130 will snuggle up to Pasing and Westendstraße. The U4 will extend its reach from Theresienwiese to Westendstraße, offering additional travel options from Heimeranplatz. Passengers traveling in the eastern part of the main line between the main station and Ostbahnhof can hitch a ride on the U5, a handy alternative that runs largely parallel.

Your New Besties: Information Stands and QR Codes

To help you navigate through the chaos, information stands will pop up at the stations offering replacement transport, stacked with changes in timetables and information about replacement buses. To make your journey even smoother, additional stands will guide you from the stations to the corresponding bus stops. For added convenience, QR codes will be available to lend a hand with navigating your way to the replacement buses.

In a Nutshell:

  • S-Bahn main line closure: May 9 at 10:20 p.m. to May 12 at 4:40 a.m.
  • No trains will run through the affected S-Bahn tracks except for the S7 line.
  • Many lines will be diverted or will start and end earlier.
  • Replacement buses will be running every ten minutes between Pasing and the main station.
  • U-Bahn, bus, regional trains, and alternative S-Bahn sections can help keep you moving during the closure.
  • Check real-time schedules; many lines will have altered timetables or shortened routes during the closure weekend.
