Mahindra posts a 26% rise in vehicle sales during July 2025, with SUV models leading the charge
Mahindra Unveils Electric Vehicle Lineup for 2025, Aggressively Pursuing Global Markets
Indian automobile giant Mahindra is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) market with a series of new models slated for launch in 2025. The upcoming EVs, which include the Mahindra Vision S, Vision SXT, BE6, and XUV.e9 (XEV 9e), are designed to offer competitive range, modern design, and advanced technology.
The highlight of the launch schedule is the August 15, 2025 unveiling of the Vision S and Vision SXT. The Vision S is an electric SUV that continues Mahindra’s legacy in the SUV segment, while the Vision SXT is anticipated to be a rugged electric pickup truck. Both models showcase Mahindra's commitment to electric mobility and are expected to embody modern design and advanced EV technology.
The BE6, a midsize electric SUV targeting urban and semi-urban consumers, is expected to offer around 400-450 km range on a full charge. It will feature a modern, aerodynamically efficient design, a digital cockpit, premium infotainment with connected car technology, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The XUV.e9, roughly 4.8 meters in length, is positioned as a larger “coupe-SUV” with premium pricing. It shares its INGLO (India for Global) architecture with the BE6 and aims at competing with global EVs like Tesla. The XUV.e9 is not only intended for the Indian market but also for international markets such as Australia starting around 2027.
Mahindra's new EV line-up, including the BE6 and XUV.e9, are premium, purpose-built electric models rather than electric versions of existing ICE cars. The BE6 will be available in different battery packs, including a 79 kWh variant providing extended range and features suitable for buyers looking in the range of ₹20-27 lakh ex-showroom.
In addition to these models, Mahindra is developing four new concept models: Vision.SXT, Vision.S, Vision.X, and Vision.T. These new models will be unveiled at Mahindra's 'Freedom_Nu' event on August 15, 2025. The Vision.SXT is not explicitly linked to any previously unveiled Mahindra concept, while the Vision.X is expected to be the electric version of the Mahindra XUV700.
The Vision.T is likely an evolution of the Mahindra Thar concept, and the Vision.SXT is likely an evolution of the 2023 Global Pik Up Concept. These new models are likely to be positioned as global offerings to fuel Mahindra’s overseas expansion.
In the domestic market, Mahindra reported total domestic commercial vehicle sales of 21,571 units in July 2025, marking a strong performance. The recent launch of the XUV 3XO 'REVX' Series and the commencement of deliveries for Pack two variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9E models have supported Mahindra’s SUV growth.
The three-wheeler segment also saw a strong 164% jump to 9,475 units in the July 2025 period. Total exports rose to 2,774 units, marking an 83% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) increase. Mahindra sold a total of 50,835 utility vehicles in July 2025, including exports. From January to July 2025, Mahindra sold a total of 2,01,938 SUVs, marking a 22% increase from the corresponding period of FY25.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra's Automotive Division, commented on the performance, stating a 20% growth in SUV sales and a 26% growth in total vehicle sales in July 2025 compared to the same month last year.
With these new EVs, Mahindra is positioning itself as a key player in the global EV market, combining competitive range, modern design, advanced technology, and targeting both domestic and global markets.
