M-net & Stadtwerke Bring High-Speed Internet to 1,000 Bavarian Households
M-net Telekommunikations GmbH and Stadtwerke Weilheim i.OB Energie are teaming up to bring high-speed internet to around 1,000 households in Polling and Etting, Upper Bavaria. The joint Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) expansion project will see the laying of several dozen kilometers of new fiber optic cables over the coming year.
The expansion, which runs parallel to the extension of district heating networks, will provide residents with internet connections of up to 1 Gbit/s. This high-speed internet is particularly reliable and suitable for data-intensive applications like streaming Netflix. M-net, the leading fiber optic provider in Bavaria, is known for its fast internet, affordable telephone and mobile connections, and TV services. The project is set to be completed by the end of 2026, offering internet speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second today and even more in the future for a seamless speed test experience.
M-net's supply area covers large parts of Bavaria, including the Ulm region and the Hesse Main-Kinzig district. The company has been committed to sustainability, having reduced over 90% of its greenhouse gas emissions and been climate-neutral since 2021.
The joint effort by M-net and Stadtwerke Weilheim i.OB Energie is set to transform the digital landscape of Polling and Etting. Upon completion, residents will enjoy the benefits of high-speed, reliable internet, further enhancing the region's connectivity and quality of life, perfect for an internet speed test.
